Trackers
I was fortunate to be in the right place at
the right time to become a member of the 1RAR Tracking Team. Our
dogs in Australia were Tago & Titus, however in Vietnam
we had Justin & Tiber. Tiber was injured at
FSB Coral & replaced by Caesar (photo above).
The Australian Defence Force Trackers & War Dogs Association is a relatively new Association & was borne in 2001 on the back of a book titled "Trackers" (Author: Peter Haran) & the unveiling of the War Dog Memorial at Alexandra Headland, Qld.
The photos below are of the War Dog Memorial at Alexandra Headland, Queensland.
The Memorial is beside a walking track & is on the point of the headland overlooking the ocean. A tap & water bowl is positioned in front of the Memorial so dogs being walked can have a drink.
1RAR
After completing basic & Corps training at 3RTB, Singleton I was posted
to 1RAR (The 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment) at Holsworthy.
Here I was to meet & serve with many men who are still mates today.
